SEDONA
HOME
Rooted in the red earth and open to the sky, this home is a quiet symphony of light, landscape, and lived warmth.
This design proposal embraces the natural topography and scenic beauty of Sedona, transforming it into an architecture that is warm, contemporary, and deeply rooted in place.
The home is conceived as a two-level residence that maximizes view, privacy, and flow. Social and gathering spaces are located on the upper floor to capture the dramatic views of Thunder Mountain, while the lower level accommodates more intimate, functional spaces such as bedrooms, a gym, office, and recreation areas, all with direct access to the outdoors.
The architecture prioritizes natural light, organic materials, and seamless indoor - outdoor connections. A covered upper terrace and shaded outdoor dining area encourage year-round use, while the fire pit, barrel sauna, and outdoor kitchen form a private wellness corner to the north of the lot, enhancing the daily rituals of rest and connection.
The home’s material palette draws from the desert itself: earth-toned finishes, wood textures, and vertical screening provide warmth, tactile richness, and a sense of protection. Carefully composed rooflines and architectural screening help stay within height limits while offering privacy from neighbors.
While the upper-level terrace and railings are constructed with slender metal framing for structural clarity and lightness, their rhythm and angle, combined with vertical screening, create a visually solid barrier that enhances privacy. This approach meets the client's desire for separation from neighbors while preserving the architectural language of openness and refinement.
The result is a home that feels both elevated and grounded, modern but never cold, a thoughtful response to the Sedona landscape and the values of contemporary desert living.
