NO. 10 GARDEN
An urban garden, unfolding through terraces, planting and everyday rituals.
No.10 Garden is a residential landscape project that transforms an underutilized outdoor area into a layered environment for gathering, relaxation, and everyday living. Conceived as an extension of the home, the design unfolds across a series of terraces that respond to the existing topography while creating distinct yet connected outdoor experiences.
The project combines integrated seating, planting, shaded areas, and flexible gathering spaces to encourage a closer relationship between architecture and landscape. Rather than treating the garden as a single open space, the design introduces a sequence of atmospheres, ranging from more social and communal settings to quieter corners for retreat and reflection. A carefully considered palette of materials contributes to both the character and performance of the garden. Extensive gravel surfaces reduce water consumption and maintenance requirements compared to traditional lawn areas, while supporting a more climate-conscious approach to landscape design. Together with drought-tolerant planting, these choices create a resilient outdoor environment that can adapt to seasonal changes with minimal intervention.
Currently under construction, the project is gradually taking shape as a contemporary garden retreat that extends the living environment beyond the walls of the home. Once completed, it will offer a series of interconnected outdoor spaces where architecture, landscape, and everyday life merge seamlessly.
The project reflects QhS’s interest in designing human-scaled environments where architecture, landscape, and everyday experience come together to create meaningful and lasting places.
